I bought a bike!! Andrew has been pestering (you might think that sounds mean but if you know Andrew, you know it can be true) to buy a bike for some time now. I have been hesitant because I am scared of bikes. Scared of falling, getting hit by cars, etc. We tried buying a bike a few years ago, but the first trail he took me on I fell headfirst over the handle bars and scraped up my face. In less than 2 minutes. No joke. That bike ended up going to Carina. So it has taken me a while to feel agreeable towards this again. Here is my bike...The price of gas and the inconvenience of driving away has convinced me. Most of our friends live less than 5 minutes away and it feels dumb to drive there. But it takes a while to walk. Andrew kept telling me that biking was the way to go. So...we went to the REI garage sale thinking it was worth a try. There were 5 bikes there at garage sale price and this was one of them. Originally around $475 and we got it for $175! It looks like somebody fell, scraped it a little, and returned it. (Funny coincidence right?) You wouldn't even notice the scrapes unless you looked.
It's got front and back shocks, a cushy seat, and the type of shifting (technical I know) that I wanted. If you are interested in reading more you can go here. And I have already ridden it around town twice now. It wasn't as bad as I thought, I actually kind of liked it. Still a little nervous around cars, going down hills, or turning corners. It takes time right?
