So this is picture was taken in June of 2005, at the end of the year picnic for the preschool that I worked at when we lived in Covington. This is a picture of me and the little girl that I spent my time with. I was her one on one aid in the morning, and I loved being with her. She was 3 when I started and turned 4 during the school year. She was an absolute terror in a hilarious sort of way, very endearing. I don't think I went a day without laughing. In the afternoon, I worked as a one on one aid with this little boy in a first grade class. While he drove a lot of other people crazy, I absolutely adored him. Again, I don't think that I went a day without laughing. Working at the school for a year totally changed me. Changed isn't the right word, focused would be better.
I had graduated from BYU the June before and I didn't really wanted to know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. All I knew was that I wanted to work with kids who needed me. These two definitely needed me. I found that I was able to help them in a way that no one else could have right then. And I realized that being with them really helped me, made me feel happy and fulfilled. I wanted to keep doing that.
That was probably a lot of information that none of you care about, but I pulled out their pictures as a little reminder why I am willing to go back to school in 2 weeks. I remember now why this is worth it.
