The News

Lucy June 2010

1.  First off, I am officially back to school now!  Our teacher's strike is officially over and we have a contract that met the minimum requirements we were looking for!  We had our teacher prep day today and kids come back tomorrow.  Despite all the many, tiny, little things that drive me crazy about my job, I am so happy to be back at school and so excited to see my students again.

2.  This picture of Lucy makes me laugh, she looks so different now.  Getting some updated pictures and a post about her is on my to-do list.  She is getting quite large and is pretty hilarious with her antics, she deserves a post of her own.

3.  We went down to Portland this weekend for a quick trip to visit my Granny and Poppy.  The drive was way too long for such a short visit, but we never seem to make it down there for a good long stay.  It was so good to see them and to get to spend a little bit of time with them at their house.  Seeing them, and some cousins, was totally worth the long drive.  I hope to be getting pictures from them soon (hint, hint Granny!), as this little trip also deserves as post of it's own.  Maybe soon I can convince them to come up for a visit!

4.  It is starting to feel like fall, we are thinking that the garden is about done with the summer vegetables and we are into the salad greens time again. We need to get some more spinach planted as I'm pretty sure that our last planting didn't take.  We seem to have one or two garden boxes that just don't work.  With the craziness that goes on around this place, whose knows how they were set up.  Andrew told me to avoid those boxes when we planted spinach.  I didn't listen and now I'm regretting it.  The weather around here has been just nuts this year, our plants haven't known what to do.  They get started producing, and then it dumps rain and gets so cold that everything starts to rot on the vine.  We've gotten lots of great food from our garden, but I feel like we could have done so much better with a little more sun and heat!

Enjoy the back to school season!
