Tidbits

This one got herself locked in our landlord's truck yesterday. Probably when I was getting out food for the chickens around 4pm. She was happy to see us this morning. Way better than the thoughts of coyotes, cars, or other miscellaneous dangers that she could have found.

Molasses cookies were made. Delicious. And three trays were slightly burned. That is a record for us. Slightly crunchy is still delicious.

This recent purchase makes me way more happy than it should. King size happiness with a pillow top. A quilt handmade for me by Andrew. Our Christmas light sculpture.

Happy

(The orchid one of my student's gave me for Valentine's Day.)This morning as Andrew was making our favorite Saturday morning breakfast, I was cleaning the kitchen, and we were discussing what our plans for the day, I had a realization.

February has been a hard month for us. Not in a "something big and bad happened" sort of way. More in a "we've been doing the bare minimum everyday and aren't enjoying life" sort of way. Which isn't normal for us.

Andrew went to a recital this morning and I took an hour to read and think and look around. And I made a decision that March is going to be better than February. Because there are good things happening.

Chairs

This weekend I was feeling a little bit down about never finishing projects. So I started a project that wouldn't take me too long to finish. And one that really needed to be done. I took three chairs that looked like this:
And turned them into this:
The effect on our little kitchen is nice. The project didn't go perfectly smoothly, I had to try twice. But I am glad that I had to do redo it because Andrew helped pick out the material the second time around and I like it much better than what I picked.
