Many Faces of Scout

Scout is getting to be quite fun...she has definitely changed a lot in the past two weeks! She has learned how to smile, it's a really big cheesy, goofy smile, but it sure is nice when you know it's directed at you!  She also looks around and stares a lot; she holds her head up really well.
Here is a video of her smiling, she can do it much better, I just haven't caught it on video yet and I don't want to forget what these first attempts are like!  Also big in Scout's life, she is learning to put herself to sleep and sleep on her own.  In the two days we were home between trips, she starting sleeping in her crib instead of in her bassinet or with us.  While on our vacations, we have been trying to lay her down to sleep by herself, although we haven't been that strict with it.  She is definitely much happier when she gets good sleep!  Lest you think she is too cute, below is a video we took on took on Monday evening.  We had been home for almost 9 hours and she hadn't slept for more than 15 minutes at a time...despite our best efforts.  We took it mostly just so that later we could show her that she wasn't perfect. To redeem herself, when we finally got her to sleep at 845 pm, she had her best night of sleep EVER.  She has always been a good night sleeper, which is much more vital to me than a good day sleeper.  But after a horrible day, she slept for 7 hours straight, got up just to eat, slept another 3 hours, ate, then slept another 2 hours. All in her own crib! You'd better believe that I enjoyed my first 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep since before being pregnant. I didn't even have to get up to go to the bathroom. The next morning, after being up for a couple of hours, she put herself to bed for a good long (over 3 hours!) nap in her own crib. She is definitely learning!  We sure love have her here with us!

Levi was quite disturbed by her screaming video. It made him holler. He wants you to fix her.
