5 Months Old!

Can you believe she's been around that long already? I can't, and yet, she is such a part of our lives I can't imagine her not being here. She is growing and changing so much. CIMG0646
She spends a great deal of time on her tummy, pulling her legs up under her or "swimming" on her belly.  I wouldn't be surprised if she is moving around some by Christmas.

She's "learned" that if she starts jabbering at me as I'm getting her ready for bed she can stay up longer, because really, who can resist a jabbering baby?

She does jabber and has a variety of sounds.  But it's pretty rare and we always stop to listen and smile.  Typically. she only jabbers when it's just me and Andrew around, at home, and when she is more tired. Oh and in her bed, alone, as she is putting herself to sleep.  Her sounds are expanding and becoming more frequent, but they are definitely a special treat.

She likes playing with her toys now.  Of course, they always go straight to her mouth to get thoroughly explored.

She went through a crazy jumping in the jumper phase which now seems to be subsiding and evolving into spinning around to look at all of the different toys.

Scout has a great smile.  It lights up her eyes and her whole body wiggles.  It's hard not to smile back at her.

Her night sleeping varies greatly.  She always goes to bed around 6 pm.  But she can wake up anywhere between 1 and 4 times - at least she always goes back to sleep well.  And she wakes up anywhere from 6:30-9.  She is getting better about naps, but they are pretty inconsistent too - anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.  No real time schedule, just depends on how long her last nap was and how tired she is looking.  Usually she sleeps great at night or she naps great during the day, but not both.  Variety is great right?

Scout has cut a real tooth!  Her bottom right front tooth is through, visible and sharp!  She also has a funny white nubin', that must be some sort of a tooth.  It's on the bottom right, where her canine teeth might be.  We are just watching it to see what will happen there!

Today, in celebration of her 5 month birthday, she will be trying her first puree on a spoon (we have given her a few tastes on our fingers, which she loves).  Homemade pumpkin, we can't wait to see how she likes it, she has been so interested in food for the past month and a half.
