My birthday was just perfect. Andrew got up with Scout and made me the perfect breakfast, a big scramble with all my favorite goodies, deliciously huge cinnamon rolls, and hot coffee. We opened presents and lounged around the house all morning. In the afternoon, we had a few friends over to meet Elena and visit with us. Then, after the girls were asleep, Andrew made steak, with sweet potatoes, asparagus, and a glass of pinot noir, one of my favorite dinners. It was a quiet, peaceful, relaxing birthday. Just what I wanted.
As a mental treat to myself, over the past few months, I've been trying to get back in the habit of reading. I haven't really read much at all since I had Scout...very odd for me. But I decided to give e-books a try and have been checking out digital books from the public library and reading them on my phone. Makes reading feel way more accessible for me. I can read in the short bits of time, in the morning and the evening, when Scout has been occupied. I miss real paper books, but they just never seem to be where I need them, when I need them. Now that I'm spending a great deal of time sitting on the couch nursing, my available reading time has increased dramatically. I've been plowing through books like crazy, so if you have any suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them. I like fun to read books :)
For my birthday, Andrew picked up a used Nook for me. A bit easier on the eyes, for all of the reading that I'm doing. And a bit easier to hold and turn pages. I love it!
