Elena Jo-5 Months

  • This girl is a bundle of energy and smiles when you give her some attention.  I couldn't get a good snapshot of her smiling because she was so wiggly!
  • I think the dimple on her right cheek is here to stay.
  • Her mohawk is still around, sometimes.  And sometimes it lays down and she looks completely different.  Out of our control.
  • She rolls back to front.  All the time.  And then frequently gets stuck and forgets how to get back to her back.  Which is hilarious (and annoying) because she used to be able to roll from her back to her front easily.  In the past couple of days she has gotten better at getting back over, and I can see her getting stronger and enjoying spending more time on her belly.
  • She has a couple of days where she kept flipping over to her belly when she was trying to sleep, and then would get mad, but now she's just a confirmed belly sleeper.  Every time that I go and get her from a nap she is asleep on her belly.
  • She wants to eat so badly.  And I'm procrastinating.  Because spoon feeding a baby while camping seems annoying!  Ha!  But sometimes she demands it, so we do.  She likes to reach and scream for whatever is your hand, ice cream cones and Popsicles are favorites.  But she's also had applesauce, a hunk of pork meat, pureed carrots, yogurt, and a slice of zucchini...all of which she loved.  I'm obviously not being very strict about order of introduction of new foods, second child syndrome for sure!
  • She loves her 6pm bedtime and goes right to sleep.  She wakes up 2-3 times a night to eat, and goes right back to sleep, sleeping until 730 or so.
  • She loves Scout.  Loves watching her, smiling at her, loves when Scout pays attention to her.  I love watching the two of them together.
  • She's still a good napper.  She rarely protests or fights a nap, usually when she is fussing, she wants to take a nap.  She goes right to sleep too!  Sometimes her naps are short (45 mins or so) but sometimes they are longer, 2 or 2.5 hours.
  • She loves to get attention from familiar people, but is starting to be hesitant and nervous around unfamiliar faces and places.
We love this little munchkin!
